The caches hided by Nyyberi from 2013 onwards came under maintenance and it was decided to archive Nyyberi's caches from Nurmes and Reksaari islands, with a few exceptions, and to make new caches and share the responsibility for the maintenance of the caches with the members of the association.
The total price estimate for the project was around 3000 € and we participated in the "Mnuu huki" participatory budgeting vote organised by the City of Rauma. We did well enough in the vote to get the 3000 € funding we applied for.
During the spring, there were workshops and everyone did a little tinkering at home, alone or in a group, and a week before the agreed hiding date, all the cache boxes and their contents were ready. The boxes are film plywood boxes with a hinged door and a latch lock, with a waterproof plastic box still inside.
With young people and children in mind, caches were made near the islands' landing sites to motivate young people to take up the hobby and get out into nature.
4-5 May was scheduled as a cache-hiding weekend, but the team was in such a hurry that we managed to cache both islands in one day.
A total of 102 new caches were placed, 2/3 in Nurmes and 1/3 in Reksaari.
A total of 26 cachers took part in the project and 500 hours of volunteering were accumulated.
